Rathbone, (Philip St. John) Basil
(13 jun. 1892, Johannesburgo, Sudáfrica–21 jul. 1967, Nueva York, N.Y., EE.UU.).

Actor británico. Debutó en el teatro en 1911. Después interpretó papeles clásicos en Londres y Nueva York, y en 1924 comenzó a representar, con frecuencia, papeles románticos en Hollywood. Con su particular voz y delgada estampa, obtuvo papeles de villano en varias películas de capa y espada protagonizadas por Tyrone Power y Errol Flynn. Fue elogiado por sus actuaciones en Romeo y Julieta (1936) y Si yo fuera rey (1938). Es reconocido por sus interpretaciones de Sherlock Holmes en una saga de filmes que comenzó con El mastín de los Baskervilles (1939).
